Mahindra Recalls Over 19,000 Units Of XUV700 And Scorpio-N

The Scorpio-N and XUV700 units that would be recalled were assembled between July 1 and November 11, 2022, Mahindra said.

One of the largest car manufacturers in India Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is recalling over 19,000 units of the XUV700 and the Scorpio-N to fix a rubber bellow found inside the clutch bell housing.

In a notice posted on the company website, Mahindra said that it would proactively inspect rubber bellow inside bell housing on a batch of 6,618 Scorpio-N units and 12,566 XUV700 units assembled between July 1 and November 11, 2022.

The company said that a sorting process error at the supplier's plant, on specific dates, may have affected the operating dimensional clearance of rubber below inside the bell housing.

“Keeping with the company's stringent quality standards and exercising abundant caution, Mahindra has proactively engaged in this limited inspection and subsequent rectification, free of cost,” it added.

The company said that the customers would be individually contacted by the dealership.

The Scorpio-N was launched in June this year and Mahindra XUV700 was launched in October 2021. Both SUVs are highly valued products of the company.

An HT Auto report suggests that the waiting period for both models is very extensive. While the XUV700 has a waiting period of about a year, a few variants of Scorpio-N take two years to reach customers' doorstep.

On Thursday, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) reported a 56 per cent rise in domestic passenger vehicle sales at 30,392 units in November 2022 compared to 19,458 units in the same month last year. The company sold 30,238 units of utility vehicles as against 19,384 units in the year-ago month, up 56 per cent.

Sales of cars and vans were higher at 154 units as compared to 74 units in the same month last year. M&M said its total commercial vehicle sales were at 19,591 units last month.
