Jio Users Face Network Disruption, Downdetector Reports Sharp Spike Citing User Queries

New Delhi: After global outage of social media platforms Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp hampered the communication of users, Reliance Jio users complained of network issues across the country. Several users took to Downdetector to report issues related to Jio's network.
The graph on Downdetector, which tracks real-time status information of services providers across websites on a daily basis, showed a sharp spike around 11am, pointing out at a large number of complaints regarding disruptions in the Reliance Jio cellular network reported around that time.

What was the distuption in Reiance Jio network?
The reported disruptions came within a day of the major apps, including WhatsApp and Instagram faced a technical snag affecting scores of users. It took nearly six hours for the services to be restored. With the Jio cellular network reportedly down on Wednesday, #jiodown hashtag kept trending on Twitter.
On Downdetector, it showed a steady hike from 9am onwards with the graph peaking around 11am. At 11:08am, there were almost 4,000 reports complaining of Jio cellular network outages across the country, according to Hindustan Times report. Of the reported problems, 41 per cent said there was no signal, 37 per cent had trouble accessing their emails, while 23 per cent said they faced a total blackout.
Going by the complaints on Twitter, it is understood that problem persisted in several parts of the country, especially in the metro cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, as well as in cities like Raipur and Indore. One of the users complained about not getting the network till 11.44 am.

The Twitter handle for JioCare can be seen responding to the complaints, asking them to send their numbers for further investigation. The company has stated the following, "We are currently experiencing connectivity issues in your location. Our team is working on the same and services will be restored as soon as possible."
