Dyson Layoffs: Employees Left 'Shocked' After Unexpected Job Cuts; Check Details

Dyson Layoffs: This development is particularly notable as it occurred just three months after Dyson had assured its workforce that the global headquarters would remain unaffected

Dyson Layoffs: Dyson recently announced significant job cuts at its headquarters in Singapore. Employees who were affected received emails instructing them to participate in individual meetings. During these meetings, representatives from the Human Resources department informed them that their positions had been eliminated due to redundancy, according to a report by CNA.

The announcement of these job cuts came as a shock to many employees, who described it as a 'surprise.' This development is particularly notable as it occurred just three months after Dyson had assured its workforce that the global headquarters would remain unaffected by a prior restructuring effort. The earlier restructuring in the firm led to the layoff of approximately 1,000 jobs in the UK.

The report includes a quote from an anonymous employee reflecting on the abrupt layoffs, stating: “The HR representative will be in the room. Unfortunately, reason given (was) the job is redundant, and we need to pack our things and prepare to leave. We won't know who was called into the room ... (I) saw lots of envelopes.”

"People are shocked and have low morale, as they aren't sure when their turn might come," the employee remarked, noting that the announcement was unexpected and came as a ‘surprise’.

Another employee noted, "Suddenly, people are taking their bags. I thought they are going out to other offices for meetings but … they are actually leaving." They added that the overall atmosphere in the office has been "solemn" throughout the day.

According to the report, employees from the manufacturing and procurement departments have been laid off, although the exact number of job cuts remains unclear. An employee said in the report that Dyson had previously implemented layoffs at its development centre in Johor Bahru. However, the recent layoffs in Singapore surprised many, especially since the company had recently announced plans to increase its investments in the region.

In the report, a Dyson spokesperson said, “We constantly evolve the composition of our teams and take steps to ensure we have the right skills in the right places. Our ambitions in Singapore remain unchanged, and we anticipate that we will continue to grow here in the medium term.”
