Cristiano Ronaldo Forays Into NFTs, Signs Deal With Binance

Ronaldo will join dozens of other celebrities, including the likes of Amitabh Bachchan and Snoop Dogg, who have minted their own NFTs.

Cristiano Ronaldo appears to be the latest celebrity to jump on to the NFT bandwagon. The Manchester United striker has signed a multi-year deal with Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange in terms of daily trading volume, the platform announced on June 23. Non-fungible tokens, or NFTs, are rapidly gaining recognition around the world as more and more celebrities are endorsing the digital tokens, either by minting their own collection or by purchasing them at high prices. Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Sunil Gavaskar, Dinesh Karthik, along with dozens of global celebrities such as Snoop Dogg, Paris Hilton, and Tony Hawk have already endorsed NFTs and now, the Portuguese football star is the latest member of the club.

Binance on Thursday took to Twitter to announce the partnership. “This is your opportunity to own an iconic piece of sports history and join CR7's Web3 community,” the post read. The tweet also had a short video message from Ronaldo, who said, “Together, we are going to change the NFT game and take football to the next level.”

Binance said that the multi-year agreement will see Ronaldo create a series of NFT collections. The NFTs will be available to purchase via Binance’s own platform, and the first collection will be launched later this year.
