CRED User Won Gifts Worth Rs 3.25 Lakh; Offered Only Rs1,000; Here's Why

In his post, Sangal mentioned that after winning the jackpot, he was instructed to complete a form to receive the prizes. He claimed that CRED then requested his PAN card to process the TDS payment

In a recent social media post on X (formerly Twitter), a man who won CRED’s Friday jackpot, valued at Rs 3.25 lakh, claimed that the Bengaluru-based company offered him just Rs 1,000 instead. Aviral Sangal claims that Kunal Shah's company has cancelled the jackpot, claiming that 200 people won the jackpot due to a “technical issue.”

The credit card payment firm’s Friday jackpot included a MacBook, iPad, AirPods Max and a TUMI bag.

In his post on X, Sangal mentioned that after winning the jackpot, he was instructed to complete a form to receive the prizes. He claimed that CRED then requested his PAN card to process the TDS payment on the winnings.

However, Sangal revealed that shortly after, he received a call from the CRED team informing him that the jackpot had to be cancelled due to a technical issue. They refunded his coins and offered Rs 1,000 in cashback as a “goodwill gesture.”

He wrote, “Even though I usually do not fall for the @CRED_club jackpots, but yesterday I just played the friday jackpot without having any hope of getting anything meaningful. But I scored the JACKPOT and it wasn't a small one. It included a Macbook, Ipad, Airpods Max and a TUMI bag worth INR 3.25L.”

“I filled out the form to receive the items and they took my PAN to pay the TDS on the jackpot. BUT few minutes back I get a call from Cred team that they had to cancel the jackpot because of some technical issue and they crediting back the coins and good will gesture INR 1K cashback,” he added.

The X user further mentioned that after he rejected the Rs 1,000 offer, the company "shamelessly" called him twice with the same proposal. During a third call, Sangal said CRED provided a detailed explanation, citing a “bug” as the reason for cancelling the jackpot.

“Another call from CRED this more in depth. Due to a "Bug" there were 200 users who won the Jackpot. They decided to cancel the Jackpot instead of pausing, fixing the bug and honoring the 200 odd users who already won. I have asked the lady that CRED needs to publicly acknowledge the incident publicly and to honor the Jackpot for all 200 users as the decision taken by CRED is only fair to the organization and not to its users,” Sangal said in his post.

“I have made my stand clear that CRED needs to honour the reward or else I do have my legal options available to me. I will keep you posted,” he added.

Netizens Reactions:

“Same happened with me but amount was 40k. After 50+ email exchange and call I got my vouchers. Just stick to your ground - I need what i have won, nothing else. Ask them to send on email everytime for documentation purpose,” wrote one of the X users.

Another user added: “Where are the other 200 who won then... why arent they replying on this thread or coming out...i knew all these prizes was too good to be true..has anyone ever won anything substantial on Cred other than the 1rs, or 2rs you get on credit card payments.”

“@CRED_club is really not worth nowadays. If it's a bug or technical glitch then it's their problem but not with the customers. If a customer had won it then it should be provided to him. Waise bhi hardly anyone could win big. Except 1 or 2 or 3 rupees , there is not much more,” wrote a third user.
