Bank Holidays: Are Banks Open Or Shut On April 26? Check Here

Despite the closures, digital banking services will continue to operate as usual. Customers can use online platforms such as internet banking, mobile apps, UPI services, and ATMs

Customers planning to visit banks for in-person services should take note, as a series of bank holidays is scheduled between April 26 and May 12, 2025. Over this 17-day period, banks in various parts of the country will remain closed on nine days due to weekends and regional festivals, potentially affecting regular banking operations such as cheque clearance and passbook updates.

The closures include the second and fourth Saturdays, Sundays, and several regional holidays like Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti, Parashuram Jayanti, Akshaya Tritiya, and Buddha Purnima. While not all these holidays apply nationwide, they will impact bank branches in states where the festivals are officially recognised.

Upcoming Bank Holiday Schedule:

  • April 26 (Saturday): Fourth Saturday (All India)
  • April 27 (Sunday): Weekly Off
  • April 29 (Tuesday): Parashuram Jayanti (Shimla)
  • April 30 (Wednesday): Akshaya Tritiya (Bengaluru)
  • May 4 (Sunday): Weekly Off
  • May 7 (Wednesday): Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti (West Bengal and Tripura)
  • May 10 (Saturday): Second Saturday (All India)
  • May 11 (Sunday): Weekly Off
  • May 12 (Monday): Buddha Purnima (Several States)

Since holiday schedules vary by state, customers are encouraged to check with their local branch before planning any bank-related visits.

Digital Banking Services Remain Unaffected

Despite the closures, digital banking services will continue to operate as usual. Customers can use online platforms such as internet banking, mobile apps, UPI services, and ATMs to carry out most financial transactions.

Internet Banking and Mobile Apps: These platforms offer services like fund transfers, bill payments, account management, and more.

Unified Payments Interface (UPI): Apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm remain fully operational for instant and secure money transfers.

ATM Services: ATMs will continue to function for cash withdrawals, balance inquiries, and cardless transactions.

Customers are advised to plan accordingly and make use of digital banking tools to avoid any inconvenience during this extended holiday stretch.
