Bank Holiday Today: Are Banks Open Or Closed For Guru Ravi Das Jayanti? Check Here

Bank Holiday Today: While banks will be closed in the affected states, digital banking services like UPI, internet banking, and mobile banking will continue without disruption

Bank Holiday Today: Banks in certain states will remain closed on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, in observance of Guru Ravi Das Jayanti and local state elections. The Delhi government has declared an official holiday for Guru Ravi Das Jayanti, rather than just a restricted holiday. However, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has not yet provided updated information regarding the bank holiday in Delhi on February 12, 2025.

According to a General Administration Department notification dated February 10, 2025, “ The Lt. Governor of National Capital Territory of Delhi is pleased to declare Wednesday, the 12th February 2025 as a Holiday in all Government Offices, Autonomous Bodies & Public Undertakings, under the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, on account of Guru Ravidas Jayanti. The Restricted Holiday on the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti was earlier declared vide Notification No. F.53/689/GAD/CN/2024-25/2018-2064 dated 13/11/2024 stands cancelled."

The holiday schedule differs by state, so not all banks in India will be closed on February 12.

Banks Closed for Local Elections

Banks in Aizawl will observe a holiday on February 12 for local elections, allowing employees to vote. Public holidays are often granted to ensure citizens can exercise their voting rights.

As per a notification from the General Administration Department dated January 23, 2025, “Under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, the Governor of Mizoram declared the 12th February 2025 (Wednesday) as Public Holiday for all Government Servants including employees under Central/State Public Undertakings, Educational Institutions and Banking Institutions within Aizawl Municipality and Lunglei Municipality in order to enable the electors to exercise their franchise in the forthcoming General Election to Local Councils, 2025.”

Since bank holidays are state-specific, customers should verify with their respective banks or visit the RBI website for their region's official list of holidays.

While banks will be closed in the affected states, digital banking services like UPI, internet banking, and mobile banking will continue without disruption. However, in-person services such as cash withdrawals, deposits, and account-related assistance will not be available.
