Volkswagen Virtus, Taigun Get Feature Updates, RDE-Compliant Engines, And Hike In Prices

Besides updating the Virtus and Taigun with more features and RDE-compliant engines, Volkswagen has also hiked the prices of all its models by 2%.

Volkswagen has added some new features to its Virtus sedan, and Taigun compact SUV. The feature addition has been done to the lower models of Volkswagen’s popular sellers. Besides features, Volkswagen has also updated the powertrains in both these models, making them compliant with the upcoming Real Driving Emission (RDE) norms. 

However, with the finer tweaks and updates, Volkswagen has also introduced a price hike for the Virtus and Taigun, applicable from April 1 onwards. The feature updates on the lower trims of both the Volkswagen products add more value to them compared to rivals like the Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Hyundai Venue, Kia Seltos, Tata Nexon, etc.

Volkswagen Taigun And Virtus: New Features

The feature upgrade to the Volkswagen Virtus sedan includes the addition of rear fog lamps as standard fitment across all models. Before this update, the rear fog lamps were available with the upper models of the Virtus only. 

The Volkswagen Taigun on the other hand, gets Auto Headlights with follow me home feature on the 1.0 TSI Highline and 1.5 GT Plus models. Previously, the feature was only available with the higher 1.0 TSI Topline and the 1.5 TSI GT Plus models. 

Volkswagen Virtus And Taigun: Engine Updates

The familiar 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol churning out 115 hp, and the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine making 150 hp mated to a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG automatic remain the same as earlier, powering the Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun. However, both these engines have now been updated to meet the upcoming RDE Emission norms. The RDE Emission norms are set to come into effect from April 1, 2023. Moreover, both the powerhouses are now also E20 compliant.

Volkswagen Taigun And Virtus: Hike In Prices

With the addition of new features, and the more compliant engines, Volkswagen has also hiked the prices of all its models by 2%. The price hike shall come into effect from April 1. With the price hike, models like the Volkswagen Tiguan will get an even higher price tag, which currently starts from 33.5 lakh.
