Toyota Urban Cruiser EV Vs Maruti Suzuki E Vitara: Which One Are We Getting First?
The Toyota and Maruti Suzuki EVs would be based on an electric architecture while also being localised for our market. Both have similar proportions but have a different face
As mentioned before, 2025 would be the year of EVs with numerous launches taking place and one of the biggest ones would be the e Vitara from Maruti Suzuki and the Urban Cruiser EV from Toyota amongst others. That said, the Toyota and Maruti Suzuki EVs would be based on an electric architecture while also being localised for our market. Both have similar proportions but have a different face including the same 2,700mm wheelbase.
The Maruti looks a wee bit sharper though with a blanked off grille giving more radical proportions. The interiors too are very much the same but have different colours while we expect the features list to be similar too. The cabin design though is different from any Maruti or Toyota that we have seen before while the feature list would be suitably longer too.
A bespoke EV architecture will mean a flat floor and more space at the back. We can also expect a frunk. Two battery packs are expected with 49 and 61kwh battery packs while interestingly it will have AWD layout too. Power and torque for the larger battery pack would be in the region of 180bhp and 300Nm.
Range is important and here the range figure would be expected to be higher than some of the current options with around 500km. Pricing is crucial and with high localisation, we can expect the prices to be in the same ballpark as rivals while the Maruti Suzuki will come much earlier than the Toyota with a debut next month at Bharat Mobility Show.
