The Skoda Slavia and the Toyota Belta are both midsize premium sedans that would add to the current crop of sedans in the market.
There are two new sedans that are coming soon for launch in India and both of these are aimed at the same segment. The Skoda Slavia and the Toyota Belta are both midsize premium sedans that would add to the current crop of sedans in the market like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and the Maruti Ciaz. Here is a short comparison of the two upcoming sedans.
Dimensions
The Slavia is clearly longer and wider than the Belta and that is easily seen with the dimensions. The Slavia comes in with a length of 4541mm while the Ciaz has a length of 4490mm. The Slavia is also wider at 1752mm while the Ciaz is 1730mm. Both cars get 16inch wheels but the Slavia has a more premium design along with looking bigger than the Belta. The Belta obviously is a Ciaz hence the design has been around for some time.
Interior
The Slavia again comes across as premium with its dual-tone interior along with some accents thrown in. The two spoke steering is also pure Skoda and looks classy. The top-end versions also get a massive touchscreen plus digital dials. The Slavia interior also has soft-touch materials plus a high-quality level. The Belta interior is similar to the Ciaz with the same look. However, the India spec will get a different upholstery option with a dual-tone beige effect. Where the fight evens out is the wheelbase with the Belta wheelbase being almost as long as the Slavia. In terms of features the Slavia is also ahead with a bigger touchscreen, digital dials, ventilated seats, touch AC controls and a sunroof. The Belta will have a touchscreen of course plus cruise control but it lacks digital dials plus a sunroof.
Engines
The Belta, like the Ciaz will get a 1.5l petrol engine with manual and a 4-speed automatic. The Slavia offers more options with a 1.0l turbo petrol and a 1.5l turbo petrol with 6-speed At and DSG automatic options along with a manual of course. The Belta though will have a mild-hybrid setup which will promise excellent mileage. The Slavia will also get efficiency-saving technology wherein the 1.5l TSI, the two cylinders will shut down to increase efficiency.
Price
Like the Ciaz, the Belta will offer a more value for money experience with its package. The Belta is expected to start at Rs 9 lakh while going all the way to Rs 12 lakh. The Slavia though would be priced between Rs 10-17 lakh. It is clear that Slavia has a bigger focus on features, design, and technology along with more performance. The Belta is more about efficiency and offering value for money.
