Tata Motors Launches India's Budget-Friendly EV Tiago — Check Specifications, Price And Other Details

The booking of the EV will commence on October 10 and deliveries will begin from January 2023. The company will reserve 2,000 units for existing Tata customers. 

Tata Motors has expanded its Electric Vehicle (EV) range with the launch of India’s most budget-friendly EV car Tiago on Wednesday. Tata Tiago EV joins the existing line of electric vehicles on offer from Tata named Tigor EV, and Nexon EV.

The upcoming EV was first teased in 2018 and was expected to hit roads by 2020. Tata Motors confirmed the launch on World EV Day on September 9. Tata Tiago EV has been finally launched after two years of waiting.

The company at the launch event announced that the EV will offer a 1,60,000 km battery and motor warranty. The introductory price of the electric car is kept at Rs 8.49 lakh while the top-end is priced at Rs 11.79 lakh.

The company also announced that this introductory price is applicable for only the first 10,000 customers. 

The booking of the car will commence on October 10 and deliveries will begin from January 2023. Tata Tiago EV's 2000 units will be reserved for existing Tata customers. 

Specifications & Other Details

The Tiago EV is the new entry-level electric car and shares its EV powertrain with the Tigor EV. Hence, the Tiago EV gets the Ziptron EV architecture which means better range and performance.

The Tiago EV gets a  24kWh lithium-ion battery pack with 315 km of range There is another variant with a smaller battery pack with a 19.2 kWh battery pack with a 250km range. 

There are multiple regen modes which help bring one pedal driving and also gain more range.

The car can also be charged via a DC fast charger too along with an AC charger plus a conventional charging plug point.

Tata claims with a 7.2kW AC charger the charge time is 3 hours 36 minutes.

Design-wise there are blue highlights all over and that differentiates the design.

The feature list includes leatherette seats, climate control, 8-speaker Harman audio system, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps and mirrors, cruise control, connected car tech plus more.
