Tata Nexon Facelift 2023: Should you buy it?

The Nexon is the best selling Tata and understandably, they have thrown everything at it with loads of new technology.

The Nexon has been given the second facelift but in essence it can be termed as an all new product with a redesigned exterior plus interior. The Nexon is the best selling Tata and understandably, they have thrown everything at it with loads of new technology. The new Nexon in essence gets a new gearbox, new styling, new interior and a heavily upgraded features list. So, should you buy it? Let us find out.

Looks

Here it is all new and looks a generation apart when compared to the previous Nexon which was also a balanced design nevertheless. The LED DRLs look stunning and sit above while projectors are below. Another feature normally seen on higher-end cars is the sequential turn indicators and even a 'welcome light pattern'. There are new colours including a purple and it looks striking. The wheels are new 16inch ones and also look very futuristic. In our opinion, the rear styling is a bit more fussy but the fully connected LED lighting is again a latest design trend while the wiper is hidden too. All in all this looks to be one of the best looking cars in its class.

Interiors

Here is also a big change and also a lift in terms of materials or quality. You have a faux carbon finish and purple inserts while there is a new two spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo. The steering wheel has a glossy finish in the centre which is also a fingerprint magnet along with the centre console touch panel. Some of the finishes on the car needs some work but the overall sense of quality is improved along with a massive new digital instrument cluster with customizations like on many luxury cars along with a crisp new 10.25-inch screen with a layout which is a huge improvement over the earlier Nexon. We particularly liked how the navigation can be mirrored onto the dials.

We also saw very less chrome and it feels sportier while the new seats are also more comfortable. While there is no power adjustment, the seats can be adjusted manually and get ventilation. There is a long list of features including a 360 degree view camera with front parking sensors with a nice crisp feed plus even a blind view monitor which is used via the indicators. The feature list also includes connected car tech, sunroof (voice assisted), touch climate controls (another fingerprint magnet), auto headlamps, 9 speaker JBL audio, wireless charging etc . It is also good that 6 airbags are now standard. The boot is a big 382l affair and the seats are pretty comfortable.

Engines

There is a turbo petrol 1.2 which remains the same with 118bhp while not it gains a 7-speed DCT with metal paddles. This is the second Tata to get a DCT while the other gearboxes remain for lower variants. The DCT is our recommendation while there is also a diesel 1.5 which gets a manual and an AMT.

Prices

The new Nexon will see a slight rise in prices but even then its popularity will only increase now post this huge update. The looks are sharp and it looks like an above 4m SUV while the interior is brought up to the next segment in terms of features or the design. It does surely tick all of the boxes and the DCT is also another important addition. In terms of a feature packed, good compact SUV, the Nexon in its new avatar will be even more popular now and we recommend the petrol DCT top-end. It is simply a lot more appealing now and amongst the best buys right now.
