New Skoda Slavia Sedan Revealed In India, Will Replace Rapid
Compared to the Rapid, the new Slavia wears a more premium look with the new Skoda.
The new sedan from Skoda has been fully revealed and it is called the Slavia. To replace the Rapid in India, the Slavia would be slotted below the Octavia and would be the second product based on the MQB A0 IN platform which currently sees the Kushaq. Compared to the Rapid, the new Slavia wears a more premium look with the new Skoda grille while the bigger dimensions are also seen here. The new Slavia is bigger, wider, and longer than the Rapid while crucially claiming to have the longest wheelbase in its class. Even the boot space is claimed to be the biggest in class.
The interiors, too, get the new Skoda design philosophy with a floating touchscreen and the trademark two-spoke steering wheel. The touchscreen is 10.1-inch in size while having all the required features. Further on the Slavia packs in leatherette upholstery, a fully digital instrument cluster, electric sunroof, connected car technology, ventilated seats plus the touch ac controls. There is also a premium audio system, auto headlamps plus safety features like six airbags, multi-collision brake and cruise control, etc.
Like the Kushaq, the Slavia is going through the turbocharged engine route with two turbo petrols on offer. The range starter is a 1.0l turbo petrol with 115hp and it will come with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The more powerful version is the 1.5 TSI with 150hp and 250Nm of torque with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The 1.5 TSI like the Kushaq is the most powerful turbo petrol engine in its class in terms of power and torque. While launch would next year, the Skavia will compete with premium midsize cars like the Honda City and Hyundai Verna.
