Should You Consider The Toyota Camry 2024 Facelift Over An SUV?

The Camry continues with its 2.5l hybrid but there is more power while the best bit is the refinement, comfort and the ease at which you drive it

The Camry is the sole sedan offering in the premium full size segment in India and has also been the only sedan on sale from Toyota with the Corolla being discontinued along with the Vios. Hence, for a luxury sedan buyer, should you spend 48 lakh on a Camry over a luxury SUV? Well, the Camry always had strengths with its smooth hybrid powertrain, space and comfort. However, now, it gets a new look which is much more premium and more equipment.

Crucially, it is up to date with the latest tech thanks to a new cabin including a touchscreen which is much better than the old one along with a new smart look. It feels more modern and premium but the best part is the features including a 360 degree camera (display could be better though), cooled seats which are powered, connected car tech with remote commands, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and more.

The real deal is the seat at the back where you have a separate climate control function operated by touch controls on the armrest but now there is a recline function too while automatically you can recline the front passenger seat from the back. Space is huge and it is much more comfortable than any SUV at this price. Other features include ADAS, front/rear sensors and more while it gets a sunroof too.

The Camry continues with its 2.5l hybrid but there is more power while the best bit is the refinement, comfort and the ease at which you drive it. It is built for comfort and efficiency too as the hybrid will give you near 20 kmpl in the real world! The Camry is also easy to drive despite the size with the only thing being the fact that you need to be careful regarding the ground clearance.

The Sprint edition that you see here brings in a surprising amount of aggression on the Camry. It is quite sporty with black and red combo but it remains to be seen whether its target buyers will like it! However, we like design here and the look is more Lexus like now.

We think the Camry hybrid now is a much better luxury car alternative with a focus on comfort, efficiency and space plus now it looks more premium. SUVs at this price don't have the efficiency or comfort as the Camry even though with the Camry it is more of a city chauffeur driven car which it always has been but now it is a stronger buy.
