Research Underway To Build 'Driverless Car', India-Based Techie In US Swarn Avinash Working On Prototype

New Delhi: Some stories speak louder than words and same is the case of this autonomous vehicles which is expected to lead to urban mobility reaching a new level. At a time when the automobile industry, across the world, is undergoing a paradigm shift, a young mind from a small town Swarn Avinash aims to disrupt the sector with his machine learning and artificial intelligence skills by inventing a "self-driving car". Having a diversified experience of working with conglomerates such as Google, Amazon, Apple and others, Avinash now aims to revolutionised the field of "driver-less car". 

"It’ll basically be as far reaching as the change from horse-drawn carriages to cars," he said talking about the immense potential of automobile industry. He has also made a prototype of the self-driving car which has several sensors which helps the vehicle to reach from one point to another. The car is also equipped with cameras, artificial intelligence and radar. 

Avinash is currently working with San Francisco-based firm Lyft Inc and plans to bring the driver-less car concept to India. "Indian citizens spend 7% of their day on commute, if half of the time could be spent working, for example responding to emails, an extra 1000 crores of added value will be created each day,” Swarn Avinash Kumar said.

With the help of the advanced technologies equipped in such self-driving cars, he said that car accidents in India could be controlled if the transition happens adding that self driving cars would change the land-use patterns and reduce the need for parking infrastructure, traffic lights etc

It is also being said that the advent of self driving electric vehicles would drastically reduce the traffic and pollution levels in India. 

With fuel prices surging past the all time high levels, several experts and industry analysts are betting big on electric vehicles as the future of automobile industry. The concept of self-driving car might be at an initial stage at the moment, but sure has immense potential to change the way people commute.
