Renault Boreal Could Come To India To Rival Harrier And XUV700

The design though is unique with the larger DRL/headlamp design and the grille with layered slats. The Boreal is based on the CMF platform and is larger than the Duster too

The new Boreal seems to be an interesting SUV that does make sense for our market with a pleasing design and a nice looking cabin. Measuring at more than 4.5m, it is bigger than the average 4m plus SUV and is only slightly shorter than the Harrier and the XUV700. The design though is unique with the larger DRL/headlamp design and the grille with layered slats. The Boreal is based on the CMF platform and is larger than the Duster too with a wheelanse of 2702mm while the ground clearance is a fairly impressive 213mm. Elsewhere there are larger 19-inch wheels and door handles on the B-Pillar.

The design has more flair than the other Renault SUVs and looks good while the engine would be turbocharged petrols with a dual clutch automatic. Inside, the cabin looks premium with a large touch screen angled towards the river, a panoramic sunroof, a 360 degree camera and ADAS. There is also dual zone climate control, a massage seat function and powered seats.

If priced right, the Boreal could make sense for the Indian market and would be placed above the upcoming new Duster. This could rival the likes of the Tata harrier and the Mahindra XUV700 in terms of the midsize SUV segment while the cabin as well as the looks are quite premium. The Boreal is for markets outside Europe and expands Renault's presence while if launched here could be a major addition to the sales. As of now, the next set of products would be the new Duster and its 7-seater version due in 2026.
