Mercedes-Benz Set To Introduce Next-Generation GLC SUV In Indian Market

The new generation GLC is bigger, and more luxurious while getting a new exterior plus interior.

German luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz is preparing for the launch of the new generation GLC SUV in the Indian market. The highly anticipated release is scheduled to take place in the coming weeks, and recent images of the test cars, still camouflaged, provide a glimpse of the expected changes. The new GLC model boasts increased dimensions, offering a more spacious and luxurious experience, along with updated exterior and interior designs.

The exterior of the new GLC showcases sharper aesthetics, featuring a redesigned front end and grille, while the rear styling appears smoother. It aligns with the latest iteration of the Mercedes-Benz design language, demonstrating a longer and more premium profile. However, the most significant updates can be found inside the vehicle. The interior showcases a fresh appearance, incorporating a portrait touchscreen, similar to other new Mercedes models, including the flagship S-Class.

The new GLC also sports a new digital instrument cluster, and like the new C-Class, it exudes a technologically advanced and elegant ambience. Rear passengers can enjoy increased legroom, and the boot space has also been expanded.

Upon its launch, the new GLC will be available with two engine options: a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine, both paired with a standard 9-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive. Notably, both engines feature a 48V integrated starter motor. The GLC has been the top-selling Mercedes-Benz SUV in India, and the new generation model is expected to maintain its popularity.

Globally, the GLC has also been a best-seller, underscoring the significance of this new SUV for the Indian market. Although prices are anticipated to rise with the introduction of the GLC, the notable enhancements are likely to justify the increase. Further details will be revealed in the weeks leading up to its launch.

In addition to the new GLC, Mercedes-Benz is also gearing up for the launch of the new generation SL roadster in the coming days. However, the new GLC is expected to be a significant product launch for the brand, in terms of sales volume.
