MPV Sales: Ertiga Remains Strong, Kia Carens Overtakes Toyota's Innova

The Carens sold 30,953 units from Jan-June while the Innova Crysta sold 30,551 units in the same time.

New Delhi: In the Jan-June sales in terms of MPVs, the Kia Carens has overtaken the Toyota Innova in terms of sales while the Ertiga remains strong in terms of overall sales. However, it is a big change with the Carens taking the premium MPV crown from the Innova. The Carens sold 30,953 units from Jan-June while the Innova Crysta sold 30,551 units in the same time.

The Ertiga meanwhile has sold 68,922 units while its XL6 sibling has sold 20,176 units. Other MPV sales include the Triber from Renault managing 17,046 units while the Carnival has sold 1,847 units. The Carens was launched earlier in the year in 2022 and has got a big start with two petrol engines and one diesel with automatic/manual options.

The Carens starts from Rs 9.5 lakh and goes upto Rs 17.7 lakh while the Innova is priced between Rs 17 lakh to Rs 26.5 lakh. That said, till now Innova has had a firm grip on premium MPV sales but the Carens overtaking it sees a shift in trends.

The Carens has been launched with a 6 and a 7-seater configuration with the six seater getting captain seats for the top-end versions. One of the highlights of the Carens is the one-touch electric tumble mechanism for the third row seat plus having features like a sunroof, cooled seats, wireless charging and more.

The Ertiga has been updated recently and also has had a CNG version too which has proved to be popular.
