Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 EV Unveiled: First look, Review And Features

The Maybach name brings in more features, a stately appearance and of course, more luxury

The Maybach brand is known for its sedans and SUVs, with both being popular but now the Maybach name is moving towards electric with the EQS 680 EV. It is the first electric Maybach and is basically the super luxurious version of the EQS SUV. The Maybach name brings in more features, a stately appearance and of course, more luxury.

Our first look reveals that it is huge in size and dipped in chrome. The 21-inch wheels are dwarfed by the sheer size and the front-end has vertical pinstripes along with the star on the bonnet. Being an EV there is no need for a grille but the Maybach treatment brings in a more conventional look which fits.

Look closer and you even get small Maybach logos scattered inside the inlet grille. There is more chrome and a two-tone paint job further gives it a regal look. While not as upright as perhaps the even bigger GLS Maybach, the EQS Maybach sure has a lot of presence which buyers want.

Inside, the cabin contains the three huge screens joined together to cover the entire dashboard but it is the materials covering it and everywhere else which is different. There are plenty of leather choices including vegan tanned leather while this particular spec looked very elegant and inviting. Differences to the EQS Maybach include a new steering wheel, Maybach pattern puddle lamps and Maybach exclusive menu plus features.

The best bit is the private jet-like seating at the rear with two individual seats and a console running in the middle. You have everything including a 4D audio system, soft close doors, seats that massage, ventilate, heat and more. Even the armrests are heated plus the cupholders are ventilated too. There is a fridge in the middle and champagne flutes or you can catch a movie with the rear entertainment screens via a tablet.

The massive seats let you sink in and there is a lot of space here to stretch about. Of course, with the comfort doors, you can merely press a button to close them or even give hand movements- which can also be done from the front. Active ambient lighting, a scent and multiple fragrance options for the car and much more means owners will find new features even after a year from buying the car!

In terms of power, the EQS Maybach comes with two electric motors with 650bhp and 950Nm plus it has a range of 611km thanks to a massive 122 kwh batter pack. With an expected price of around Rs 2.5 crore, this is the most luxurious EV that you can buy with no rivals in sight.
