The under 4 metre SUV segment has seen an explosion in terms of new launches and a sustained sales growth with the key highlight being more customers upgrading from hatchbacks or compact sedans. We saw the updated Hyundai Venue plus Sonet along with the Tata Nexon as well. Hence, with a segment having so much activity, Mahindra has also thrown its challenger, XUV 3XO into the boxing ring. So let's take a look at how these SUVs compare against each other.

Dimensions

The Mahindra XUV 3XO is the newest SUV in its class and is a heavily reworked facelift of the XUV300. All of these SUVs are below the 4m space. The XUV 3XO actually has a length of 3990mm vs the others at 3995mm. It is, however, the widest at 1821mm vs the Nexon at 1804mm and the Brezza at 1790mm, Venue at 1770mm and Sonet at 1790mm. The XUV 3XO also has the longest wheelbase in its class at 2600mm vs the others at around 2500mm.

Engines

The XUV 3XO gets a pair of turbo petrol engines while it also has a 1.5l diesel. The Nexon also gets a turbo petrol 1.2l and a 1.5l diesel with the Venue plus Sonet having either a 1.2l petrol, 1.0l turbo petrol and a 1.5l diesel. The Brezza comes only with a 1.5l petrol but in mild hybrid form too. The Nexon and XUV also have electric variants. The XUV 3XO gets the most power though at 129bhp vs the Nexon, Venue and Sonet being 118bhp with their turbo petrols. The Brezza meanwhile generates 102bhp. In terms of gearboxes, the Venue, Sonet and Nexon get a dual clutch automatic with their turbo petrols while Nexon and XUV get AMT options too. The XUV 3XO gets a 6-speed torque converter with its turbo petrol while the Brezza also has a torque converter automatic as an option. The Sonet and XUV also offer diesel automatics.

Features

They are a big draw in this segment and hence, carmakers have crammed premium features here from above 4m SUVs. Aside from basic safety features as standard, all have touchscreen, connected car tech, climate control, rear ac vents and more. The XUV 3XO is the only to get a panoramic sunroof though and also level 2 ADAS while Sonet, Venue have Level 1. A 360 degree camera is also present in all of the cars too while XUV 3XO, Sonet get dual zone climate control too. Venue has a powered drivers seat. Cooled seats for example are there in the Nexon and Sonet. Brezza has a HUD too.

Prices

The XUV 3XO is priced between Rs 7.4 to Rs 15.4 lakh while Nexon starts from Rs 8.15 lakh to Rs 15.8 lakh. The Venue meanwhile starts from 7.9 lakh till Rs 13.9 lakh. The Sonet starts from 7.9 till Rs 15.7 lakh. It seems the competition is fierce till now with the XUV 3XO, buyers have another option.
