Mahindra Thar Roxx Vs Scorpio N Vs XUV700: Which SUV Reigns Supreme?

The Thar Roxx is finally here and prices begin at Rs 12.99 lakh. However it also brings itself in competition with its siblings, the XUV700 and the Scorpio N. Both are the other big SUVs in the Mahindra range so where does the Thar Roxx fit in? Let us have a look

Dimensions

The Thar Roxx is around 4428mm in length which means it is a bit shorter than the Scorpio N at 4662mm and the XUV700 at 4695mm. In terms of width too, the ROXX comes in at 1870mm while the Scorpio N is at 1917mm and the XUV700 at 1890mm. Wheelbase is crucial and here the Roxx is more than both at 2850mm vs 2750mm.

Features

If we talk about features then the Roxx has actually more equipment than the Scorpio N and while nearly matching the XUV700. Like the XUV, it has 10.25 inch screens while the Scorpio N has a smaller one. Plus the Scorpio N has a standard sunroof while the Roxx along with the XUV700 has a panoramic sunroof. Common features include connected car tech and more but the Roxx along with the XUV700 get a 360 degree camera while the Scorpio N has a smaller rear camera. You also have the ROXX and XUV700 getting a powered handbrake, ADAS, premium audio system, cooled seats and more. The XUV700 has the most features though overall and the most luxurious cabin followed by the Thar Roxx and the Scorpio N. The XUV700 and Scorpio N also gets captain seats in the second row.

Power

The Scorpio N and the XUV700 have more power when compared to the Thar ROXX. Engine options are similar with a 2.2l diesel, 2.0 litre turbo petrol along with 6-speed automatic as as manual options. The Scorpio N and XUV700 make 203 bhp and 380 Nm in petrol while the Thar Roxx develops 175 bhp and 380Nm. The 2.2l diesel meanwhile develops 173bhp and 370Nm while Scorpio N develops 175bhp and 400Nm along with the XUV700 developing 185bhp and 450Nm. Both the Scorpio N and XUV700 also have three drive modes vs two in the Thar Roxx.

Price

The Thar Roxx is the most affordable in terms of pricing when compared to the XUV700 and the Scorpio N. The Roxx is priced between Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 18.99 lakh while the XUV700 starts from Rs 13.99 lakh and goes till Rs 26 lakh. The Scorpio N meanwhile starts from Rs 13.8 lakh and goes till Rs 24.5 lakh.
