Mahindra Scorpio N Vs Classic: Which Is The Better Choice?
With the prices of the Scorpio Classic being announced, some buyers might be confused as to which one is the better buy. So let us take a look.
Technically this is not a comparison since the Scorpio N is the new generation version of the Scorpio Classic. But, with the prices of the Classic being announced, some buyers might be confused as to which one is the better buy. So let us take a look.
Which SUV is bigger?
This is easy as the Scorpio N is much bigger than the Classic with a new platform and a longer wheelbase for more space. The design of the Scorpio N is also more premium while still keeping the Scorpio look. That said, the updated Scorpio Classic has the old-school charm and now has been updated too.
Which SUV has more space?
The Scorpio N clearly is the more spacious SUV with a longer wheelbase while also having more space on the inside but the Classic is also not exactly a lot far behind with captain seats and more being offered.
Which SUV has more features?
The Classic might have a bigger touchscreen than the Scorpio N, but the Scorpio N is the more modern Mahindra here with many features including connected car tech, front/rear camera, 12-speaker Sony audio system, wireless charging, sunroof, Alexa-enabled What3Word, 6 airbags etc. The Scorpio Classic has the necessary features but not any more with cruise control, rear parking sensors and dual airbags.
Which SUV is more powerful?
The Scorpio N is available with a powerful 2.0l turbo petrol along with manual/automatic along with a 2.2l diesel engine with also manual/automatic on offer along with 4wd. The Scorpio Classic only gets the 2.2l diesel with only a manual gearbox.
The Scorpio N and Classic do share the diesel engine with the Scorpio N having the same power output in a lower state of tune for the entry variants. The top-end diesel Scorpio N models get a 175bhp version with drive modes and 4WD plus terrain modes.
Which SUV is more valuable?
The Scorpio Classic is diesel only and starts from Rs 11.9 lakh while the Scorpio N diesel starting price is Rs 12.5 lakh. Then of course the price differences expand between the two with the more premium Scorpio N diesel models.
In other words, the Scorpio Classic is the old-school Scorpio lover's choice and is a rugged no-nonsense SUV while the modern Scorpio N is bigger, better equipped and offers more choice but also along with being more expensive.
