Mahindra Scorpio N Scores 5 Stars In GNCAP Crash Test Rating

The Scorpio N is the first ladder frame chassis-equipped SUV to get a 5-star rating. Launched in June, the Scorpio N is the third SUV after the XUV700 and XUV300 to get a 5-star rating.

The Scorpio N has scored 5 starts under the new GNCAP crash test rating protocols. This is a stringent set of protocols under the revamped Global NCAP crash tests and the Scorpio N has scored 5 stars under that test. The Mahindra Scorpio-N scored five stars for adult occupant protection and three stars for child occupant protection.

The Mahindra Scorpio-N was tested in its basic variant with basic safety features fitted with two frontal airbags and ABS. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and side curtain airbags are not standard however curtain airbags are standard in the majority of units produced.

The lack of three-point seatbelts affected the child occupant protection result, limiting it to only three stars. Global NCAP’s updated protocols take into account frontal and side impact protection for all tested models, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), pedestrian protection, and side impact pole protection assessments.
