Land Rover Defender Prices To Dip Under 1 Crore With Local Assembly

The Defender has sold more than 5000 units in India being the best selling luxury SUV in its class while local assembly can further increase the sales

Land Rover will locally assemble it's hugely popular Defender SUV after the flagship Range Rover and Range Rover Sport are assembled. Both the Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport have seen a massive price drop after they were locally assembled while the same can be expected from the Defender. The Defender is the best selling Land Rover and sales have been increasing year on year.

The Defender has sold more than 5000 units in India being the best selling luxury SUV in its class while local assembly can further increase the sales. In terms of the price reduction we can expect the locally assembled Defender to be below Rs 1 crore and could be Rs 80 lakh with a massive 20 lakh price cut being expected if looked at the 56 lakh price cut in the Range Rover.

The Defender Octa won't be locally assembled and the local assembly could be limited to some variants and not all while more details are awaited once official confirmation is being given by the company. If priced at Rs 80 lakh starting the Defender would register even more sales in India since it has a huge fan following right now.

With local assembly, the luxury SUV market can see a turn with Defender grabbing a larger chunk of the total sales. Of course what has grabbed headlines is also the free trade agreement but it is not applicable to local assembly.
