Kia Sonet Facelift For Global Market Revealed

The Sonet, in its current form, remains a popular car but faces stiff competition, especially since the segment has seen several new launches.

The first images of the new Kia Sonet facelift are out but this may not be the exact model that is coming to India while still showing what the Sonet will get in terms of changes. The new Sonet is coming to India and will be a cosmetic update. We expect an India launch by early next year.

These images show that the new Sonet facelift looks more like a shrunken Seltos. The main headlamp design is retained but there is a new DRL treatment that is connected to it. The front bumper also has seen a minor update. The alloy wheels also have a dual tone look and also look better than the current one.

The rear styling bears a striking resemblance to the new Seltos with the connected tail-lamp treatment along with a chunkier new bumper. These new wraparound tail lamps are larger and give the rear styling a more aggressive look.

As revealed before, the interior of the Sonet, in its new avatar, will also get a refresh with a new colour and a new digital instrument cluster plus a new centre console that replaces the earlier stack of buttons. There will not be any change in terms of the engine line-up and that means the 1.2l naturally aspirated petrol will continue along with the flagship turbo petrol unit plus a 1.5l diesel of course.

The Sonet, in its current form, remains a popular car but faces stiff competition, especially since the segment has seen several new launches, with the new Venue from Hyundai along with the new Tata Nexon, which has been given a huge update recently. The Sonet currently trails behind the Seltos in terms of sales but is a big seller on its own in the sub 4m segment.
