Kia Sonet Facelift 2024 Launched — Should You Buy It?

The Kia Sonet facelift's features include a 360-degree camera, powered driver's seat, Level 1 advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS), ambient lighting, Bose audio, sunroof, and connected car tech.

Kia has finally revealed the prices for its Sonet facelift. Let us take a look at the changes to see whether it is worth the money or not. The new 2024 Sonet is about visual tweaks and more features, which has always been the main USP for this sub-compact SUV.

The price of the Kia Sonet facelift starts at Rs 7.99 lakh and it continues to be available across three engine options. The diesel range starts at Rs 9.7 lakh. The GT Line and X-Line variants with petrol engines cost Rs 14.50 lakh and 14.69 lakh, respectively. The diesel versions for the same are priced at Rs 15.5 lakh and 15.69 lakh, respectively.

We recommend going for the turbo petrol engine, with DCT (automatic). There is also an iMT as well. The DCT-turbo petrol engine continues to be the most fun combination in terms of outright punch and acceleration. It is a quick powertrain and has ample power, while the DCT automatic could be a bit jerky at low revs. However, it is fairly responsive and you get paddle shifters. You will get a mileage over 10-12 kmpl for the turbo petrol version. The Sonet facelift remains a fun-to-drive and easy-to-live-with sub-compact SUV with a slightly firmer ride.

The new Sonet has much to offer in terms of looks and features. The looks are now more in line with the Seltos or the global Kia designs. There are new L-shaped headlamps/DRLs, along with a tweaked bumper design, which adds a degree of muscle. The rear styling, meanwhile, has a bigger change and frankly, for the better with the new Seltos-like vertical lamps, along with a light bar. Inside, the Sonet is now the best equipped in its class and can compete with a higher segment now in terms of features.

A new instrument cluster and a revised dashboard are the bigger changes with a lot of trim choices. The digital display is premium and you can change the layout with the drive mode. The touchscreen hosts the latest infotainment system. Other features include a 360-degree camera, powered driver's seat, Level 1 advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS), ambient lighting, Bose audio, sunroof, connected car tech, etc.

For the price, the audio system sounds good as well. Space at the front is good but the rear seat isn't the most spacious. Although it is slightly better now with the updated seats plus the scooped-out front seatback, which slightly increases the sense of space. The sunblinds are a nice touch, though.

We feel the new Sonet retains its strengths and builds on them, including the features, quality, and tech.
