Kia is readying the electric version of its Carens MPV but it will debut with a new look including a more luxurious interior. The new Carens EV would be the only MPV which is electric at this price bracket since this is something no other carmaker has tried before. The Carens EV will have a different name and a different blanked off face with a clear differentiation to mark it out.

 

The Carens EV will have the same length though but the interior will get different EV specific bits including a new steering wheel with the off centre Kia logo plus a new infotainment system with EV specific displays. The battery pack would be a  42kWh and 51.4kWh one with range upto 450km for the larger battery pack.

 

 

The Carens EV would be cheaper than the BYD eMAX 7 but more expensive over the standard ICE Carens while its SUV like design would be a differentiating factor. Being an EV, the Carens electric will have a focus on sustainable materials and also have V2L where you can charge gadgets. This would be the first sort of mass market Kia EV as till now the carmaker has focussed on premium electric cars only with the EV6 and EV9.

 

Expect the Kia Carens electric to be more expensive over the ICE version and could be as much as Rs 25 lakh since it would be having a different name plus a more luxurious interior to make it stand out from its ICE sibling.
