The I-Pace is a fast SUV and it does 0-100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds. The car looks great and is a clean design with even flush door handles which come out at the push of a button on the key fob.
Electric cars are slowly but surely catching pace in India with various new electric cars coming into the market. The latest one is the Jaguar I-Pace. This is an interesting electric SUV because it always has been designed to be built around a new architecture plus being electric, the I-Pace has more space tha much larger SUVs due to the packaging. Firstly the specs are the main talking point for any EV and in the I-Pace it has an 90kWh Lithium-ion battery and gets two electric motors placed at each axle with a combined power output of 400PS and 696Nm. It is also all-wheel drive.
The I-Pace is a fast SUV and it does 0-100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds while the battery is placed centrally between the two axles as low as possible. In terms of range the I-Pace gives around a figure of 480km on the WLTP cycle while you can easily get 300km plus for our roads or traffic. That is more than enough for most every day commutes and also enough for a one-way long journey. Regarding the charging bit, the I-Pace will finish a 0-80 percent battery charge in just 40 minutes using DC rapid charging (100kW). Home charging with an AC wall box (7kW) will achieve the same amount of charge in just over ten hours. It also has a battery pre-conditioning system which means that when plugged in, the Jaguar I-Pace will automatically raise (or lower) the temperature of its battery to maximise range ahead of driving. For India, Jaguar has installed over 35 chargers at its dealerships. However, crucially Jaguar I-Pace owners would have access to Tata Power’s EZ Charge Network with over 200 charging points across the country. These chargers are present in malls, residential complexes and at highways too. That is a big advantage to the I-Pace and solves the charging issue for many along with range anxiety.
In terms of design the I-pace is certainly unlike anything else out there with a unique shape. Being electric it does not have to have a huge engine up-front hence has a short front while a majority of the real estate is for the space inside. Hence the I-Pace has a wheelbase of 2,990mm with an overall length of 4,682mm. The car looks great and is a clean design with even flush door handles which come out at the push of a button on the key fob. In terms of space it has 890mm of rear legroom plus has a luggage capacity of 656 litres.
The interior has leather, a 16-speaker premium audio system, a panoramic sunroof plus more features including Matrix LED lights, heads-up display, an air filter, a digital rear view mirror, dual touch screens, dual-zone climate control, connected car technology and more. Due to air suspension you can raise the car as well and that means it is also well suited for our roads and it does justice to the "SUV" part. The I-Pace is a futuristic SUV that also has a good amount of range along with the necessary luxury to make a solid consideration if you have the money.
