Hyundai Exter First Look Review — 5 Things That We Noticed

Exter is priced aggressively at a competitive price even though it is introductory.

The Exter is a micro SUV by Hyundai and it expands their SUV line-up as well. Launched with petrol as well as a CNG configuration, the Exter is priced aggressively at a competitive price even though it is introductory. But, how is the Exter in terms of a first look, here are our thoughts.

  1. The Exter measures at a length of 3815mm it does not look like a hatchback which is raised or a squashed SUV. It looks different from a Venue while being small but packing in enough interesting styling details which differentiate it from the Venue. The proportions are also boxy with enough SUV styling details being added in plus 15-inch alloys.

  2. The interior design is similar to the Nios with the same dashboard pattern but the Exter has a different look via coloured accents plus more personalization. It even gets different dials with digital ones seen also on the i20. Quality is decent while being better than some rivals.

  3. The feature list and the infotainment system is the highlight. The touchscreen works really well and the rear camera display is also quite good. Then, it has voice operated sunroof, dashcam, OTA updates, wireless charging etc which makes it better equipped than rivals plus getting other features like cruise control, climate control etc.

  4. Wheelbase is the longest but space at the rear is best for two though while legroom is just about decent while headroom is very good due to the boxy roofline. Boot space is better than rivals too.

  5. While like rivals it also gets a 1.2l petrol, it has a four-cylinder which promises better refinement while the inclusion of paddle shifters for the AMT is a big change and something new. The 185mm ground clearance also promises enough capability for handling our roads.
