Elevate vs City: How Does One Of Honda's Longest-Running Sedan Compare With Its First C-SUV?

Honda Elevate vs City: The Elevate is the first Honda compact SUV and enters a crowded space. However, will buyers choose Elevate over the City? ABP Live explores the differences and similarities between the two cars.

Till now, the Honda City has been one of the longest-running automotive names and is the most famous Honda model in India. However, there was a clear need to get a C-SUV in the line-up, and that has been fulfilled with the new Honda Elevate. The Elevate is the first Honda compact SUV and enters a crowded space. However, the pertinent question is whether buyers will continue to look at the Honda City as a potential buy as the Elevate hits the market. Let us take a look at how these two stack up against each other.

Which car is bigger?

The Elevate has a length of 4312 mm and is in the above-4 metre compact SUV segment in India but the City is much longer with a length of 4583mm. The City is narrower than the Elevate with a width of 1748mm vs the 1790mm of the latter. Wheelbase is a crucial factor when buying a car and here, the Elevate has an edge over the City. While the Elevate boasts of a 2,650mm wheelbase, the City sports a 2,600mm. That said, the City still has the larger boot at 506 L against the 468 L boot space in the Elevate.

Which car has more features?

Both the cars are feature-packed with climate control, connected car tech, sunroof, rearview camera, lane watch, and customisable dials. They both have Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). However, the biggest difference here is that the new 10.25-inch touchscreen that the Elevate has and is much bigger than the one on the Honda City.

Which car has more power?

There is no change in terms of the 1.5 L petrol engine, which powers both cars. They also get a 6-speed manual gearbox along with a CVT automatic. The change is the addition of a strong hybrid for the Honda City that is not offered on the Elevate.

Which costs more?

Here comes the most important aspect for the consumer. Price! The City can cost the buyer anywhere between Rs 11.5 lakh to Rs 20.39 lakh for the City Hybrid. Elevate is likely to be slightly cheaper than the flagship City and is expected to be priced between Rs 11 and Rs 17 lakh. In the end, it depends upon the buyers' needs and choices which car s/he goes for. While the City is slightly more spacious than the Elevate and has a luxury sedan feel to it, the higher ground clearance and the aggressive SUV styling of the Elevate make it a good choice for people who prefer an adventurous look.
