The arrival of the new Honda City has shaken things up in the midsize sedan space and the City this time gets an extensive update with its variant line-up being changed. How does this new sedan compare with the current segment newbies in terms of the Skoda Slavia and the Volkswagen Virtus? Let us take a look.

Which Car Looks Better?

The Virtus is the longest car here while otherwise the Slavia also matches up with the Virtus with the City close behind. All cars get 16-inch wheels while the Virtus plus the Slavia have higher ground clearance. In terms of design, the City gets a new front with a tweaked bumper and a rear one as well while it also gets a new colour. Hence, it matches up with the other two while the Virtus is the sportiest in GT form especially, the Slavia gets a more traditional sedan looks similar to the bigger Octavia.

Which Car Has The Better Interior?

All three sedans have all of the features including wireless charging, touchscreen, sunroof, rear camera and connected car tech plus more. The City now gets ADAS features and is the only sedan to get so with ADAS being available throughout the range. Then the Virtus and the Slavia also get cooled seats as well. All cars have a two-tone beige-black combo but the Virtus GT adds a more sportier cabin. The Slavia gets a classic and elegant-looking cabin design while the Virtus is a sportier one. In terms of boot capacity, Slavia and Virtus have the bigger boot here. All three cars have a spacious rear seat too.

Engine Options?

The Slavia and the Virtus get turbo petrol engines including a 1.0l TSI with 115bhp while there is a more powerful 1.5 TSI with 150 bhp. The Virtus 1.0l TSI gets manual and automatic while the 1.5 TSI has a DSG. The Slavia offers a manual with both of its turbo petrol engines. The City does not get turbo petrol as instead it gets a standard 1.5l petrol with CVT and manual with 120bhp. There is also a more powerful strong hybrid version with 125bhp with an eCVT gearbox. The City is also the most efficient if you consider the strong hybrid even though the standard 1.5l version delivers 17.8 kmpl to 18.4 kmpl. The hybrid meanwhile gives 27.13 kmpl. The Virtus and Slavia give 18-19.4 kmpl.

What About Prices?

The Virtus starts from Rs 11.3 lakh while the top-end is Rs 18.4 lakh. The Slavia meanwhile is priced between Rs 11.2 to Rs 18.4 lakh. The new City starts from Rs 11.4 lakh and goes to Rs 20.3 lakh for the strong hybrid version. Hence, the Virtus is the sportiest of the lot while the Slavia offers a classic sedan look both offering excellent driving pleasure along with practicality. The City offers more efficiency and the appeal of a hybrid along with its huge rear seat space.
