Hindustan Contessa To Come Back In An Electric Avatar In India?
The new Contessa could be a premium sedan and that means it would be operating at a price higher than current midsize sedans. However, the brand value that it has, would be a strength for the car.
After news of an electric Ambassador, it seems Hindustan Motors is keen to bring back another popular brand in India that it used to have. We are talking about Contessa and in a recent trademark filing, it seems the Contessa name will come back.
The Contessa in its previous generation was a premium sedan and still remains an iconic name. The design was a large premium sedan along with being more modern than an Ambassador. The old Contessa had a plush interior and later versions came with more premium features too.
The Contessa then brings back many memories and India could again see the new version. The new Contessa would have a more modern design language over the more retro Ambassador. Peugeot will bring in that development and help while we expect all the premium features seen with new sedans.
At the start, the new Contessa will get a new petrol engine which is in development along with an EV version that would share its powertrain with the new Ambassador. The new Contessa will get a new platform which would mean a longer wheelbase with more space at the back along with a high safety rating.
The new Contessa could be a premium sedan and that means it would be operating at a price higher than current midsize sedans. However, the brand value that it has, would be a strength for the car.
Overall, with the name being trademarked, one of the cool cars of the old automotive era surrounding India will once again rise from the ashes. We hope to see the new Contessa in the coming years!
