Driving Licence Update: Centre Permits NGOs And Auto Companies To Issue Driving Licence

The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said that these legitimate institutions are required to have necessary facilities on the land prescribed under CMV Rules, 1989.

The central government has eased the process of creating driving licenses for some time now. That's where the government has now taken another big step in this direction. In fact, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has changed the rules for issuing driving licenses. The new government rules will allow vehicle manufacturers associations, NGOs and private companies to run training centres. After training, all these driving licenses will be issued.

The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on Wednesday issued guidelines for the same. According to the guidelines, driving licenses will also be issued by regional transport offices (RTO), along with other legitimate institutions. A statement from the Ministry said that legitimate institutions such as firms, NGOs, private companies, automobile associations, vehicle manufacturers associations, autonomous bodies, and private vehicle manufacturers will be able to apply for recognition as driving training centers.

These facilities required-
The Ministry further said in the statement that these legitimate institutions are required to have necessary facilities on the land prescribed under the Central Motor Vehicles (CMV) Rules, 1989. If someone applies for it in a state or union territory, they will have to show their financial capability to manage the resource.

Annual report to be submitted
According to the new central government rules, state governments will have to publicize other necessary information, apart from getting recognition for the training centers. According to the government, the process of opening a driver's training center will have to be completed within 60 days of applying. These training centers will also have to submit their annual reports that may be deposited in RTO or DTO.
