Compass Sport First Look: Under Rs 19 lakh Jeep!

The entry variant, Jeep Compass Sport now starts from Rs 18.9 lakh and that is a hefty 1.7 lakh less than earlier

Jeep India has made the Compass more affordable with the entry level model pricing being reduced. The entry variant, Jeep Compass Sport now starts from Rs 18.9 lakh and that is a hefty 1.7 lakh less than earlier. If we talk about the features, the Compass Sport gets an 8.4-inch touchscreen, 17inch wheels, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay plus even an electronic parking brake.

It does miss out on a sunroof and some other features present on the higher variants. In terms of styling, it does not look undertyred with the smaller wheels while it maintains the Compass styling details while some bits have been toned down. The Compass Sport also gets LED reflector lamps.

Inside, it is similar but some features have been reduced but the smaller infotainment system also works pretty well while it does get steering controls along with a part digital instrument cluster with a central screen. Space remains the same which means it might not be as large at the back as some other SUVs, but the seats are pretty comfortable.

The Compass Sport now only comes with a diesel as the petrol engine was discontinued someback from the Compass range. Hence, the powertrain on offer is the tried and tested 2.0l diesel engine with 170bhp and 350Nm. It is available with a manual gearbox too in 4x2 guise.

However, basics like FSD suspension and an engine stop start system are offered here. Under Rs 19 lakh, the Compass is now much more affordable and this should help with the sales while elsewhere Jeep has slightly increased the prices throughout the Compass range while at these prices it will compete with the likes of the Tata Harrier and Mahindra Scorpio N.
