Citroen C3 Vs Tata Punch: Know Which Is Better In Battle Of Micro SUVs

Images of production-spec cars have been spotted and the Citroen C3 would be an affordable crossover with high localization levels.

New Delhi: The Citroen C3 is not called an SUV at all with being called a hatchback that looks like an SUV. Images of production-spec cars have been spotted and the Citroen C3 would be an affordable crossover with high localization levels.

That means the C3 would be having competitive pricing. However, we thought we will see how the Citroen C3 competes with the Tata Punch in terms of a specifications comparison.

Which Is Bigger?

The Punch has a length of 3827mm while the Citroen C3 has a length of 3980mm while the exact dimensions of the India spec model have not been revealed. The Punch and Citroen C3 look similar though having a separate headlamp/DRL treatment for the front but the Punch does look a bit more SUV-like while we are yet to see the Citroen C3 so we will reserve judgment.

That said both cars are SUVs in terms of design elements like cladding, roof rails, and more. The Punch has more ground clearance though at 187mm vs the 180mm of the Citroen C3.

Interiors

The Punch is fully loaded and that means you get a 7inch touch screen, connected car technology, cruise control, auto headlamps, part digital instrument cluster, a rearview camera, and more.

The Citroen C3 has a 10inch touch screen but does not get automatic climate control. However, the Citroen C3 has a fully digital instrument cluster.

The Punch has a wheelbase of 2445mm while the Citroen C3 is slightly longer at 2540mm. Again we will have to see how spacious the C3 is but the Punch is quite spacious with a flat floor so competition is high.

Engines

The Citroen C3 will come with either a 1.2 3 cylinder petrol or a turbo petrol version of the same with either a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch unit. The Punch comes with a 1.2l petrol only but has an AMT or a manual gearbox as an option. The Punch claims off-road ability with more features like Traction pro mode for the AMT etc.

Price

The Punch is priced between Rs 5.6 to Rs 8.9 lakh. We expect the Citroen C3 to be competitively priced and maybe even undercut but again we will have to see what prices or what features the India spec C3 will have. That said we do expect pricing to be around Rs 5.5 lakh starting for the Citroen C3.

So which SUV will you get? The Punch is better off-road and has more features while Citroen C3 is aiming for better value. We will find out soon about the Citroen!
