Citroen Basalt Scores 4 Stars In Bharat NCAP Crash Tests
The Basalt getting a 4 star safety rating is actually for both the adult and child occupant protection in the Bharat NCAP crash test
The new Basalt coupe SUV from Citroen has scored four stars in the latest round of BNCAP crash test results. Till now we have seen crash test results of Tata cars like the Harrier from BNCAP but the Basalt getting four stars is the best yet for Citroen India along with being the first non Tata car to get certified for a crash test result by them.
The Basalt getting a 4 star safety rating is actually for both the adult and child occupant protection in the Bharat NCAP crash test. Adult protection was 26.19/32 while the child occupant protection score was 35.90/49. The 1.2l turbo petrol was tested and this comes as an improvement since the C3 and eC3 have scored zero in other crash tests.

The Basalt comes with six airbags and was launched recently with an aggressive price of Rs 7.99 lakh which undercuts many other SUVs including many sub compact ones. In terms of features the Basalt comes with a 10.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay plus climate control, a rear view camera, six airbags, sliding armrest, rear ac vents and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The Basalt also gets a thigh support adjust which is a new feature.
The Basalt comes with a standard 1.2l petrol engine which is a naturally aspirated unit and that comes with a manual gearbox while there is a faster turbo petrol which comes with either a manual as standard or with a 6-speed torque converter automatic. With 4 stars, the Basalt is a big improvement and soon we can get to know other crash test results as well from BNCAP.
