Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV Interior Revealed: A More Affordable Alternative To The Curvv?

Citroen Basalt is based on the C3 Aircross but would be much better equipped and is a more sporty coupe like in design

Two big coupe SUVs are coming and one of them is the Citroen Basalt which has now been revealed in terms of its exterior design. We earlier had a look at the concept while now, here is the production spec car and with some of the interior details revealed too. The Basalt is based on the C3 Aircross but would be much better equipped and is a more sporty coupe like in design.

There are minor changes from the concept but it is an appealing design for sure. The front-end borrows the same look of the C3 Aircross and that is no bad thing. The large two part grille and the headlamps sit well with the rest of the design including the sloping roofline which is sedan like. It is proportionate while details like the tail-lamps which edge out are also quite nice. The SUV has a good amount of ground clearance too while the wheels look like smaller 17-inch ones.

The big change is the new LED projector headlamps with DRLs while some bits like the flap door handles like on the C3 Aircross have been maintained here too. Where things have changed for the better is on the inside with a more feature packed cabin having features which are a must in this class. There is automatic climate control finally plus a digital instrument cluster along with a front armrest plus a new centre console design.

Like the C3 Aircross, the Basalt will get a large 10-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay too plus a rear view camera. The cabin design also looks more premium. In terms of features while the Basalt will have more than rivals, it is missing some crucial features like a sunroof or ventilated seats or ADAS.

While the final features list is awaited, it remains to be seen how many features the Basalt gets. The engine would be the same as the C3 Aicross with a 1.2l turbo unit with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter. Price is important and since the Basalt would be missing some features, it could be more aggressively priced and as a result could start from Rs 10.5 lakh or just above the C3 Aircross.
