BSA Gold Star Vs Royal Enfield Interceptor. New Entrant Steals The Show?

Features wise, Interceptor 650 and Goldstar 650 belong to the same genre but the BSA looks a bit better and has a bit more presence along with its more retro appeal too

The BSA Gold Star 650 is priced at Rs 3 lakh and would be available across select Jawa/Yezdi dealerships. This is the entry of BSA in India and this is a modern classic with its retro infused styling. The looks are the main highlight and it has a retro vibe which is perhaps the most important aspect. It is also a simple but clean design while some of the detailing stood out.

Of course, the round headlight, wire spoke wheels and the chrome are a perfect period correct fit for this motorcycle. Fit and finish is also quite good. There are six colours on offer with the Highland Green, Insignia Red, Midnight Black, Dawn Silver, Sheen Silver and Shadow Black. The Legacy Edition in Silver Sheen is actually the most expensive iteration of the BSA Gold Star with a price of Rs 3.34 lakh.

Along with the design, the ergonomics are spot on and it is not an intimidating bike to ride also in terms of rider comfort. In terms of power, the 652cc engine develops 55Nm and 45.6PS along with a  5-speed gearbox. A lot of the torque is delivered lower in the rpm range for everyday riding. In comparison, the RE Interceptor 650 makes more power at 47bhp but less torque at 52Nm with its twin cylinder. The Royal Enfield also has a six-speed gearbox. Hence, some of the riding characteristics are also different for the bikes.
BSA Gold Star Vs Royal Enfield Interceptor. New Entrant Steals The Show?

Features wise, Interceptor 650 and Goldstar 650 belong to the same genre but the BSA looks a bit better and has a bit more presence along with its more retro appeal too. A common digital vs analogue design is seen on both of them with the other elements too with being a twin pod, semi-digital instrument cluster plus a slipper clutch. However, the BSA does get more features with the USB C port as well.

Both bikes are priced within the same price bracket and have some common traits but the BSA Gold Star looks better and carries off the classic charm more.
