BMW Set To Launch Electric i5 Luxury Sedan Soon In India
BMW's new generation i5 electric sedan will also be available in limited numbers hence, it would be a more exclusive car
BMW will launch its new generation 5 Series but first in i5 form with the limited i5 coming in via the CBU route. The new i5 would be launched in India first with the top-end i5 M60 xDrive.
The new generation i5 electric sedan will also be available in limited numbers hence, it would be a more exclusive car. This is the first all electric version of the new 5 Series and the fastest iteration is the M60 version.
In terms of power, the BMW i5 M60 xDrive comes with 601 hp and comes with M specific design bits too which makes it stand out. Torque is also a lot with 820 Nm and that means the BMW i5 M60 can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. The range quoted by BMW would be a WLTP range of up to 516 km. It will get M Sport details including performance brakes, rear spoiler and a new Blue illuminated grille.
The i5 M60 gets a standard xDrive dual-motor all-wheel drive with dual motors too. Inside, it gets M Specific trim too with a sporty look while like all BMWs, the i5 here has a configurable 12.3inch instrument cluster and 14.9inch central information display. Bookings are done online too and the deliveries for this electric luxury car would be starting from May 2024.
This is the flagship version of the i5 and it also comes with a standard wheelbase model while it is expected that the long wheelbase will come with the standard petrol and diesel trims later in the year. The new generation 5 Series would be expected to come with diesel and petrol too with this model being one of the most important cars within the BMW portfolio all over the world, including India. That said, being CBU, the i5 could have a higher starting price.
