Triumph Speed 400 Vs Harley-Davidson X440: Battle In Premium Motorcycle Space

The Triumph Speed 400 comes in at Rs 2.23 lakh for its first set of buyers while the new Harley Davidson prices begin at Rs 2.3 lakh.

The two new entrants are all set to compete for the premium motorcycle buyer who now has a lot more options along with the ever-popular Royal Enfield. The Triumph Speed 400 and the Harley Davidson X440 come from legacy brands while getting a whole new buyer base. Of course, being made in India has given the pricing that is seen here. Speaking of which, the Triumph Speed 400 comes in at Rs 2.23 lakh for its first set of buyers while the new Harley Davidson prices begin at Rs 2.3 lakh. If we talk about power, then the Speed 400 has slightly more with its liquid-cooled 398.15cc, single-cylinder, engine which makes 40 hp at 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. In comparison, the Harley Davidson X440 makes 27bhp and 38Nm of torque with its 440cc single-cylinder engine.

In terms of mileage, both will deliver nearly 35kmpl too. Styling-wise both draw from their bigger siblings. In terms of features, the Triumph has ride-by-wire, all LED lighting, traction control, LCD screen, USB charging C, dual channel ABS and more. The Harley X440 feature list includes LED DRL, Bluetooth, USB charging, dual channel ABS etc. In short, both bikes offer a good amount of features and presence plus the all-important brand factor which these two clearly bring in. With a retro design and a good amount of power, expect a new set of customers to be catered to here by Triumph and Harley Davidson.

Of course, this is also Royal Enfield's segment with its huge market share and its popular line-up of products but these two have the potential to get into this segment and expand it rather than just take from RE's share. This does show that the premium motorcycle buyer never had it so good in terms of choices.
