Auto Expo 2025: Toyota has shown its own electric suv that would launch in India soon after the Maruti e Vitara- its sibling. The Urban Cruiser EV shares the same platform as the e Vitara which means a born electric architecture. That also adds to the flexibility of the car and a longer wheelbase. Like the e Vitara there are shorter overhangs too but there are major styling changes over the e Vitara notably the front end of the car. While not as radical as the concept the production version looks futuristic as well as being a different design from the Hyryder hybrid.

The interiors though are similar to the e Vitara aside from some small changes. The Urban Cruiser EV also shares the same two battery packs as the e Vitara while also having an option of a dual motor awd system. This comes with the larger battery pack. Features also include ADAS, climate control, a JBL audio system, powered drivers seat and more. There is also a 360 degree camera and other features.

We expect the Urban Cruiser EV to come in at the end of the year while being the first all electric compact suv. It will rival the likes of the Tata Curvv, Hyundai Creta electric and the Mahindra BE 6 amongst others. We expect it to be pricier than the electric e Vitara as is the case with some of the Toyota and Maruti offerings.
