2022 Hyundai Venue Facelift Review: More Style And Features — Check Photos

The Hyundai Venue has been launched in India with a facelift, check the new design and features.

New Delhi: The Venue has been a smash hit from Hyundai since day one and even the earlier version had a big waiting list to this current day. With such popularity, Hyundai wanted to maintain its core strengths but add new technology and features. For the 2022 updated model, it has done just that so here is our review telling you what all has changed in this subcompact SUV.

Thankfully it is one of those updates which looks new immediately when you set your eyes on it. The facelifted Venue looks a lot more aggressive now as it has the new look 'Parametric' grille which is also seen on the upcoming Tucson. This new grille is much bigger and is connected to the DRLs while on the road it gets a lot of attention. The lower bumper is also new and sharper. From the side, there aren't any massive changes save for the new look 16- inch wheels while the other big change is the rear light bar which connects the tail lamps. Dualtone colour options and various single-tone shades also add a spark. The new Venue goes up several notches in the looks department now.

The same story is on the inside with a lot of technology being added in. You will first notice the digital instrument cluster which now shows various information like turn-by-turn navigation and all of the usual functions (tyre pressure monitoring system) along with changing colour with the drive mode (DCT).

The touchscreen remains at 8inch in size but is overhauled with a new look infotainment system. The BlueLink connected tech now has 60 plus features and gets OTA updates plus more.

There is Alexa and Google Assistant home-to-car capability plus there are voice commands embedded that work without internet connectivity. That aside, there is now a powered driver seat along with features found earlier like an electric sunroof, wireless charging, rear camera display, cooled glovebox, air purifier, etc. Also do note that the air purifier location has now changed and is similar to the one on the Creta.

Design-wise, there are more influences from bigger brother Creta like the four-spoke steering wheel which looks premium and the dual-tone upholstery adds an airy look that the earlier all-black interior did not have.

In terms of space, the earlier mentioned rear seat recline is very useful and the scooped-out front seatback further frees up space. The Venue remains a comfortable four-seater.

There are no changes in terms of the engine options but there was no need for it in the first place. The entry-level 1.2l petrol remains while so does the 1.0l turbo petrol and the 1.5l diesel. We drove the 1.0l turbo petrol with 120ps/172 Nm and that's the best engine with the Venue. There is enough torque for easy city use while is quick enough for its size.

The Venue remains an easy-to-drive SUV with its compact dimensions but the engine along with the sporty handling makes it a fun small SUV. The turbo petrol gets either an iMT clutchless manual or a 7-speed DCT gearbox with paddle shifters. The clutchless manual makes gear shifts easy with no clutch while we noticed shift quality to be improved from the earlier Venue iMTs.

Prices start at Rs 7.53 lakh for the 1.2l petrol but the turbo petrol range is the one you want which is priced between 9.99 lakh to 12.57 lakh. The diesel also comes in between Rs 10 and 12.5 lakh. The updates to the Venue now make it one of the top choices in terms of crucial new features and a new look. These two freshen up the SUV and it now rises to the top in terms of subcompact SUVs. Our recommendation is the 1.0l turbo petrol and the diesel for more efficiency.

What we like- New styling and features, turbo petrol performance, ride and handling, value for money, interior quality

What we do not like- No diesel automatic on offer
