YSRCP Government Increased Compensation To Displaced Families Of Polavaram: Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan

CM Jagan said that the YSRCP government is committed to their promise of providing rehabilitation to 14,110 residents.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the YSRCP government has increased the compensation to the displaced families of the Polavaram project under the Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) package. He said that the government has also issued a Government Order to that extent.

Addressing Assembly, CM YS Jagan said, "Under R&R, if the previous government announced a compensation of Rs 6.86 lakh, we had increased it to Rs 10 lakh after coming to power."

He assured that Rs 500 crores compensation would be transferred to the Polavaram victims once the rehabilitation was complete. CM Jagan alleged that funds of Rs 2,900 crores were due from the Centre and former CM Chandrababu was behind the blocking of those funds.

CM Jagan said Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo Nara Chandrababu Naidu is unfit to become an MLA. He alleged that the Chandrababu Naidu government destroyed the Polavaram project, and the current government is struggling to repair it. He added that the construction of cofferdam should be done only after the completion of spillway and approach works.  

He further added that the YSRCP government is committed to its promise of providing rehabilitation to 14,110 residents.

Veerabhadra Swamy Elected New Speaker Of Assembly

Vizianagaram MLA Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy was unanimously elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly on Monday. A notice for the election of the Deputy speaker was released on Friday following Kona Raghupathi's resignation on Thursday.

Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao said Kolagatla's selection as Deputy Speaker had increased the House's honour. He noted that Kolagatla would manage this position successfully. Minister Botsa Satyanarayana thanked CM Jagan for selecting Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy as Deputy Speaker.
