'Uska Baap Chor Tha': PM Modi's 'Pregnant Woman' Jibe At Congress — WATCH

PM Modi In Punjab: The Prime Minister was in Punjab's Hoshiarpur for a Lok Sabha election rally ahead of the final phase of polling, which is set to be held on June 1.

PM Modi In Punjab: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a jibe at the Congress on Thursday, comparing the grand old party with a woman who gave birth to a thief. While speaking in Punjab's Hoshiarpur, the Prime Minister took a veiled jibe at the I.N.D.I.A bloc and said that these "hardcore corrupt parties" in the alliance are a byproduct of the Congress.

During the rally, PM Modi narrated a story about a pregnant woman that he claimed he heard in his childhood. He said that in the story, a pregnant woman went to a hospital for delivery. "But after her son was born, the nurse assisting in the delivery found her ring missing. The nurse started crying for her ring. In the mean time, everyone at the hospital saw that the newborn was not opening his fist. The doctors got concerned about this."

"Jab doctors ne kisi tareeke se uski mutthi kholi toh anguthi uski mutthi main thi. Logon ne kaha ye baccha paida hote hi chori karta hai toh pata chala uska baap bahut bada chor tha. [When the doctors somehow managed to open his fist, they found the ring in the hand of the newborn. People said that the child had started stealing immediately after birth. Later, it was found that his father was a big thief]," PM Modi said.

Continuing his attack on the Opposition bloc, the Prime Minister said, "Because of their [Congress and I.N.D.I.A) love for their vote bank, they could not amend the right of India on Kartarpur Sahib during partition. They continued to oppose the construction of Ram Mandir for this same vote bank, the INDI alliance is also opposing CAA because of their appeasement politics".

PM Modi's rally comes on the last day of campaigning for the seventh and final phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Voting in the final phase will take place on June 1. All the Lok Sabha seats in Punjab are set to go to the polls in the last phase. The general elections are being held in seven phases across the country from April 19 to June 1. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.
