Three women employees killed at Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan

Kabul [Afghanistan], August 9 (ANI): Armed Gunmen attacked Afghan women employees of Bagram Air Base, the largest American base in Afghanistan's Kabul province on Wednesday, killing three and wounding another, officials confirmed.

The attack took place close to the Air Base. The attackers managed to escape from the area, Tolo News quoted district governor Abdul Shokoor Qudousi as saying.

"The women were working in the security section at Bagram Air Base and their duties were to search people before entering to the base," Qudousi said.

No group, including the Taliban, has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

About 8,400 U.S. troops are deployed in Afghanistan and there are another 5,000 from NATO allies. Bagram, around 50 kilometres (31 miles) north of the Kabul, houses the largest contingent of US soldiers in the country.

In another incident, a suicide car bomber detonated his explosives near a police check post in PD8 of Kabul city on Wednesday, killing one and wounding another.

The incident happened in the Benihesar area of Kabul city, said an eyewitness.

"The man killed in the attack was the suicide bomber in a taxi," a security source said adding that "one civilian was wounded in the attack."

Security officials have not officially commented on the blast.

No group, including the Taliban, has yet claimed responsibility for the blast.(ANI)
