Panama City shooting suspect barricaded in apartment

Panama City (Florida) [United States], May 23 (ANI): A suspected active shooter is reportedly barricaded in an apartment, following an earlier shooting in Panama City in the US southeastern state of Florida.

Multiple law enforcement agencies have surrounded the apartment.

The incident is still an active situation as Panama City police, Panama City Beach police, the Bay County Sheriff's Office, Florida Fish and Wildlife and Florida Highway Patrol are responding, reported CNN, quoting city spokeswoman Caitlin Lawrence, as saying.

The suspect has been firing on law enforcement.

One person had a minor injury and has been shifted to hospital.

A heavy police presence was reported in the area.

Witnesses said that they heard more than 50 shots fired, according to the reports.

A grocery store and nearby schools were evacuated.

The incident is said to be related to a "suspicious death" probe in a nearby county. (ANI)
