Nawaz Sharif has taken political asylum in London: Zardari
Islamabad [Pakistan], July 5 (ANI): Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has alleged that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has taken political asylum in London.
Zardari, in an interview, also projected former prime minister Nawaz Sharif as a threat to Pakistan Muslim League-N President Shehbaz Sharif, saying, "whether Shahbaz Sharif runs fast or slow", the vote bank belongs to Nawaz and it will then be shifted to his daughter Maryam Nawaz," reported Geo TV.
Nawaz Sharif is currently in London to attend to his ailing wife, Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.
The accountability court is due to announce its verdict in the Avenfield case on July 6, in which Sharif is an accused. However, Nawaz has maintained that the announcement of the verdict should be delayed until he returns to Pakistan.
"I am not a dictator who will run away from the courts. My wife has been on a ventilator for the last 21 days. I want to hear the verdict in the courtroom where I have presented myself with my daughter over 100 times," the report quoted Nawaz Sharif, as saying while addressing media outside Harley Clinic in London.
Meanwhile, Zardari in the interview also expressed his longing to see his son Bilawal Bhutto as the prime minister. However, the former president also maintained that Bilawal would also learn while 'sitting in the opposition'. (ANI)
