Barbara Bush Funeral: Scores of mourners gather in Texas
Houston (Texas) [United States], April 22 (ANI): Scores of mourners, including former Presidents George H.W. Bush, George Bush, Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, on Saturday (local time) attended the funeral of former first lady Barbara Bush at Houston's St Martin's Episcopal Church in Texas.
Among the approximately 1,500 attendees, apart from former presidents were First lady Melania Trump and former first ladies Laura Bush, Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton, reported CNN.
Wife of former President George H.W. Bush has been laid to rest at her husband's presidential library in Texas.
She was dubbed "the first lady of the greatest generation" during the service.
Son Jeb Bush, the former governor of Florida delivered remarks about his mother's legacy.
"We learned to strive to be genuine and authentic by the best role model in the world," Bush said of his mother.
Bush underscored when he tossed a question at his mother about her thoughts on death during their last visit together, she replied,"Jeb, I believe in Jesus and him as my savior. I don't want to leave your dad but I know I'll be in a beautiful place."
Barbara Bush died on Tuesday at the age of 92 at her home in Houston.
Bush was born as Barbara Pierce on June 8, 1925, in New York City. She married George H W Bush in 1945 and served as the First Lady of the United States from 1989 to 1993. She served as the Second Lady of the United States from 1981 to 1989.
Barbara Bush was one of only two First Ladies who was also the mother of a US president. Her son George W Bush served as the US President. The other was Abigail Adams, wife of John Adams and mother of John Quincy Adams. (ANI)
