On the occasion of second anniversary of demonetisation, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday posted a strong defence of the note ban call taken by Narendra Modi-led Central government back in 2016. In his latest Facebook post, Jaitley termed demonetisation as ‘key step’ in a chain of important decisions taken by the government to formalise the economy. Explaining the aftermath of note ban, Jaitley said it was becoming increasingly difficult to evade the tax system.
