Island dispute emerges between China and Japan

A week after a violent attack on Indian troops in the Galvan Valley of Ladakh near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) by Chinese troops, Japan has begun the legal process of full integration of an island chain.

Although China calls these islands under the name Diaoyu, which has been controlled by Japan since 1972 and is being administered by Japan itself, their legal status has so far been disputed.
